Official Rules

About 

The goal of TAPO is to continue the educational journey of our scholarship recipients without the worry of financial barriers. We aim to recognize a student who has the potential to become an innovator in the music production field.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, all applicants must be:

  • Currently enrolled in a US high school or at an accredited US university or college

  • In grade 12 in high school, or a first-year undergraduate in college as of September 2022

  • In good academic standing with a minimum unweighted 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

  • US resident, citizen, or permanent resident

Submission Guidelines

Before beginning an application, students must read these guidelines thoroughly:

  • Submit an original essay response to both of the following prompts:

    • Why are you drawn to music production/audio engineering? (250 words)

    • You are making your next beat—what does it sound like and what stylistic choices were employed? (150 words)

  • All essay submissions must be completely original and not based on any prior work

  • Must upload documentation of insurance program (WIC, CHIP, TANF, SNAP, or Medicaid)

  • Applicants must submit a copy of their most recent transcript, showing a minimum 3.0 GPA, and a have a teacher/professor from his/her/their school fill out the recommender form.

Deadline

The Application is due by June 1, 2020. The form must be completed, including a filled out  recommender form, in order to be considered. The recipient will be contacted directly on July 1, 2020.
